In 4th grade, Eric asked for the flute but they gave him the trumpet.  Saddled with destiny and an unwieldy piece of plumbing, he’s tried to make the best of his lot. Over the years, EO has studied classical technique with Adel Sanchez (NSO) and Steven Emery (BSO), improvisation with Wadada Leo Smith (CalArts), and classical Indian music with Sarod master Rajeev Taranath (CalArts).

EO is currently the lead trumpeter with Brass Menazeri, the Bay Area’s premier Balkan brass band.  He plays trumpet and keyboards with Gamelan X, a group he also directs.  Recent recording credits include The Mother Hips’ Kiss The Crystal Flake and the Residents’ Animal Lover.
